General Aviation in Cambodia |
Mission Aviation Fellowship is a "Not for Profit" organization that starte operations in Cambodia in 1995 when they purchased their Cessna 206 from "Aviation Sans Frontieres." MAF flying activities are for "Relief, Development, Government Ministries, Embassies, UN Agencies, and Medical Evacuations." The flight cost is approximately $400/hr (plus passenger tax). The aircraft is suitable for Survey, Photography, Field Inspections, Personnel and Freight movement. They are very experienced in flying in Cambodia and the aircraft is well maintained. Helicopters Cambodia operates two
Squirrel helicopters. They are the only commercial helicopter operation in
Cambodia at the moment and prices start at $68/person for a flight around Angkor
Wat ($1,200 per hour). They
have one helicopter based up in Siem Reap for flights over the temples and

If you need assistance obtaining flight clearances for your aircraft into Cambodia or for locating fuel, you can contact Robert Scott. Robert is a pilot, and former Alaskan State Trooper, who has many years experience in Southeast Asia and operating an airline in Cambodia. There are also a number of French ULM aviation enthusiasts in Phnom Penh who used to fly their ultralight from an island on the Mekong or Tonle Sap. We did not meet these individuals, but they are very keen aviators. Useful Information from CAMBODIA AIP |
In the past, there have been several instances of small aircraft being charged US$500 - $1,000 for "royalty fees" upon landing in Cambodia. This charge is not in the AIP. It applies for AIRLINES ONLY. Not for small private and charter aircraft. Do not let them charge you this fee. The ground handling fee is sometimes not charged for small aircraft, but sometimes, they will insist on a "marshalling fee" of US$28. CAMS and CATS are now managing the big airports, and they are getting the system more organized.
